“Thank you, Pingtan for rekindling my autosport passion!” Liu Ran successively won the champions in the GT3 and GT3 AM groups in the China GT Championship held on December 11 in Pingtan, a rising international tourism island off E China’s Fujian province.

Taking part in the competition made him more determined to pursue his career and left a lasting impression on the island for Liu.

Liu came across the Hong Kong-Beijing Rally on TV in 1996. The throaty engine and velocity captured his heart. After his first experience in kart racing, he fell for it and obtained a racing permit in the same year. Since, Liu has maintained his enthusiasm and witnessed the development of autosport in China.

However, Liu had an accident in the 2008 CKC China Karting Championship (Beijing Station), causing two rib fractures. He rested for six years and made a decision to end his career. “But I still liked the sports and chose to operate racing teams.” Liu added sometimes he couldn’t resist the temptation and participated in some races.

“I haven’t been racing much since 2018. But this time I came to Pingtan to join the China GT Championship and I am excited to achieve such good results on this new track.” Liu Ran said that there will be a permanent track in Pingtan, drawing more people who love car racing and driving tourism and economic development of Pingtan.
