Robust recovery for Pingtan’s tourism

The cold winter failed to thwart the passion of tourists. Pingtan received 250,900 tourists, an increase of 142.8% year-on-year, and the aggregated tourism income stood at 164.76 million yuan, hiking 113.5% compared with the previous year. Both data recovered to 97.05% and 71.18%, respectively, of the seven-day Spring Festival holiday in 2019 before Covid broke out. The good start signals the full tourism recovery in 2023.

Jubilance filled the air during the Spring Festival in Pingtan. Scenic areas were adorned with red lanterns, Chinese knots, and festive stickers.

Cross-Straits folk cultural performances were staged at Haitan Ancient Town, a large tourism complex in Pingtan.

Approximately 80,000 tourists flooded in daily from the second day of the first lunar month to the fifth day. We plan to build a nightlife market this year to draw more tourists,” said Zhong Guangsen, market director of the Haitan Ancient Town.

Pingtan hosted 14 cultural and tourism activities, including an AR light show, a painting and calligraphy exhibition, an intangible cultural heritage exhibition, screenings of new year’s films, football and badminton matches, ice-snow sports, etc.
