Pingtan's strategic location in the Taiwan Straits, as well as its proximity to major shipping lanes, has made it attractive for shipping companies. It remains to be seen how the association will develop and what specific benefits it will bring to Pingtan's shipping industry. However, the establishment of such an association is a positive sign for the city's future as a hub for international shipping.
