Pingtan welcomes first Taiwan tour group since Covid outbreak
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2023-04-10 | Lin Kongbo, StephanieA group of 19 tourists from Taiwan arrived in Pingtan, the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan, on April 2 for a three-day sightseeing tour. This is reportedly the first tourist group from Taiwan to enter Pingtan since the outbreak of Covid-19. During their three-day trip, they will visit Pingtan scenic spots and learn about Pingtan’s development planning and pro-Taiwan policies. The tourists will also apply for a mainland driving license.
"We are all motorcyclists. We were here for a motorcycle tour expedition in 2018. This time, we're back again to walk around and see how Pingtan has been progressing since then." Taiwan compatriot Chang Guoqiang said that he also wants to get a mainland driver's license and plans to go on road trips in Tibet, Xinjiang, and Yunnan in the future to marvel at the landscapes of our motherland.
Pingtan Tourism Industry Association Secretary-General Lin Wanlong stated that the trip encompasses unique tourist routes crafted with care, as they hope to give their Taiwan guests a wholesome experience. In addition, they will continue to carry out more cross-Straits cultural tourism exchanges in the future and hope that more Taiwan compatriots can come to Pingtan for tourism, entrepreneurship, and employment.
