en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2023-04-20 | Lin Kongbo, StephaniePingtan presents Taiwan duo with a first-class yachting license. Chen Zhaijie and Wang Bojun completed several training courses and a supplementary written exam, successfully becoming the first pair of Taiwan compatriots to obtain a first-class yachting license on the mainland. Pingtan is the closest place on the Chinese mainland to the island of Taiwan, designated as an exclusive common homeland and pilot zone for cross-Straits integration.
Chen Zhaijie, a senior captain with years of navigation experience, converted his Taiwan first-class yachting license on the mainland, legalizing his navigation career on the mainland. "I look forward to steering my yacht across the Taiwan Straits after getting my license," Chen beamed.
The training and exam for yacht license conversion were conducted strictly based on the standard regulations and assessments on the mainland. Upon passing all relevant theoretical and practical exams, one can submit all the paperwork to obtain their mainland license.
Wang Bojun, a first-timer on the island, was impressed by the efficiency and service of the local government. He also saw great potential for the yacht and tourism industry in Pingtan. "Pingtan and Taiwan have similar lifestyles and developing tourism industries. We are preparing to establish a yacht association in Taiwan. Leveraging the pro-Taiwan yachting license conversion, we hope to bring in more yachting professionals to Pingtan to promote cross-Straits integration and development," said Wang.
Pingtan has outlined a clear framework for future exchanges, completing a wholesome coverage of Taiwan's yacht driving license exchange by pioneering the first-class yachting licenses for Taiwan. The effort also strengthens talent exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits and lays a talent foundation of integration and exchange in the yachting industries across the Straits, according to an official from Pingtan Maritime Department.
