A delegation led by Lin Conghan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Kuomintang (KMT) from Taiwan, recently visited Pingtan for an inspection tour. During their visit, the delegation visited several local sites, including the Pingtan International Research Center for Austronesian Archaeology, Tannan Bay Scenic Area, and Taiwan-themed Town. Pingtan, the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan, is a national-level pilot zone for cross-Straits integration.

At the International Research Center for Austronesian Archaeology, the delegates marveled at the rich archaeological exhibits that detailed the origin and migration of the Austronesians, validating the genealogy and inseparable cross-Straits bond. The group later proceeded to Tannan Bay and Aoqian Taiwan-themed town. The guests were impressed by the beautiful natural ecology of the island as well as the rich cross-Straits cultural offerings at the Taiwan-themed town. Both sides committed to working closely on Austronesian research, tourism exchange, and commerce.

The delegation's visit to Pingtan highlights the importance of cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
