The sunny island city of Pingtan came alive last weekend as the city braced for the most explosive event of the month! The high-octane Fujian College Street Dance Championship kickstarted the summer with a burst of raw energy, groove, and passion on May 20. This year's champion went to BY Street Dance from Jimei University.

"We worked hard for two months. It was all worth it. Despite the grueling training, we're all very happy with our results. We're hoping to put on an even more remarkable performance next year," said Cai Anni, captain of the winning team.

Street dance has become increasingly popular among young people, and the Fujian College Street Dance Championship has been held in Pingtan for two years in a row. The event aims to promote street dance in the province and amplify "sports-cum-tourism" in Pingtan.

According to Wu Guining, director of the Competition Department of the Fujian Provincial College Student Sports Association, "This is the second time Pingtan has hosted the street dance competition. Last year, we had over 200 participants, and this year participants came close to over 800. We plan to establish long-term cooperation with Pingtan for future street dance competitions, with the goal of doubling the number of participants next year. We want to attract more energetic young people to come and experience the beauty of this island."
