The 2023 Fujian Province University Three-on-Three Basketball League concluded on May 27 in Pingtan after two and a half days of cut-throat competition. The tournament featured over 200 games, with teams vying for championship titles in various categories. Pingtan is a rising international tourism island off E China’s Fujian province.

In the men's undergraduate high-level group, the third team from Huaqiao University and the first team from Jimei University put on an exciting match. The teams traded leads throughout the 10-minute game, with Huaqiao University eventually winning 19-15.

"This was a close match because Jimei University has a strong defense," said Ling Weiheng, a member of the Huaqiao University team. "We had a face-off with them in the group stage, so we knew each other's key players and some tactical combinations. I’m glad we won in the end."

According to the chief referee He Chengbin, this year's tournament brought 130 teams participating, and many more teams are preparing to join, demonstrating the sport’s rising popularity across universities in Fujian.

Set against Pingtan International Tourism Island's pristine Longwangtou Beach, the 3x3 Basketball Park left a lasting impression on the participants and referees. According to the chief referee,He Chengbin, the venue asserted Pingtan's concerting effort in fostering a conducive atmosphere for basketball.

"Pingtan is a beautiful place. It's our first time coming to Pingtan for a match. But, we can truly see the efforts the local government has put in to elevate the venue and support package for events like this," said Zhang Shuyue, a member of the Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Overall, the 2023 Fujian Province University Three-on-Three Basketball League was a success, with teams from Huaqiao University, Fujian Polytechnic Normal University, Fuzhou University, Fujian Chuanzheng Communications College, and Quanzhou College of Technology winning championship titles in their respective categories.

The 2023 Fujian University Three-on-Three Provincial Basketball League closed with "slam and glam" as universities across Fujian congregate to celebrate the spirit of the sport and bring home glory, and a lasting memory.
