The 2023 Asian Beach Volleyball Championship is set to kick off in Pingtan from June 23 to 26, according to the Pingtan Cultural Tourism Development Group. Organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), acclaimed as the highest level of volleyball games in Asia and even the world, the championship convenes annually since 2000, bringing some of the world's best men and women athletes to celebrate one of the world's most-played sports. What's more exciting? Look out for olympiads and MVPs, as the island will be joined by the past winners of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics- Australian Women's team (silver medal) and the Qatari Men's team (bronze medal).

The event will feature 59 teams from 15 countries and regions, including China, India, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Japan, Vanuatu, Oman, Iran, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Macao. This time the winning teams stand to win a whopping $60,000!

This time the teams will be also rallying a pre-requisite ticket to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Ultimately, the Asian Beach Volleyball Championship will further bolster the island city's position as an international tourist destination and a premier setting for sports tourism.
