The 6th Cross-Straits Education Integration and Development Practice and Prospects Forum took place on July 13 in Pingtan, the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan. Distinguished professors and education leaders from both sides of the Taiwan Straits gathered to share their experiences and achievements in education integration, highlighting the unique characteristics of cross-Straits collaboration and the integration of Fujian-Taiwan culture.

Bai Dingguo, vice president of Fujian Polytechnic of Information Technology, delivered a speech titled "Empowering Personal Growth, Bridging Holistic Life." He emphasized the importance and social significance of nurturing students' overall development, drawing upon the developmental journey of his own institution as an illustrative example.

Bai Dingguo expressed, "The Chinese mainland's fast-moving higher education industry is slowly catching up to its counterpart in Taiwan. In this light, exchanges between the two are paramount. When engaging with our Taiwan counterparts, the frequency and breadth of interaction between the teachers and students is a pressing concern. I believe facilitating extensive exchanges and multi-dimensional meaningful dialogue between education providers and students must be made. Tailoring invitations to targeted schools could pave the way for gradual expansion and comprehensive cross-Straits collaboration."

Ye Liming, a professor at the Jinghengyi Education Faculty of Hangzhou Normal University, delivered a speech titled "Revisiting Writing Theory in China within a Holistic Education Framework." Drawing upon his practical teaching experience, he discussed the development trajectory of this field with the forum participants.

Ye Liming expressed his hope, saying, "I look forward to seeing more scholars from Taiwan visiting primary and secondary schools on the mainland, and more teachers from these schools visiting basic education institutions to exchange ideas and deliver lectures. If Pingtan can take the lead in organizing competitive events and activities centered around traditional cultural education across the Taiwan Straits, it would be a highly beneficial endeavor."

Xu Xiuhui, a Ph.D. in Chinese Literature from Tsinghua University in Taiwan and currently a professor at the School of Literature at Fujian Normal University, provided insights into the extensive history of Fujian-Taiwan culture and highlighted Pingtan's role as a vanguard in cross-Straits exchanges. She proposed incorporating more cross-Straits elements into education to enhance its growth and development.

Xu Xiuhui stated, "Chinese cultural characteristics and folk beliefs are excellent components to integrate into cross-Straits education. At Fujian Normal University's Fujian-Taiwan Regional Research Center, where I work, we have long been dedicated to exploring and nurturing knowledge related to cross-Straits elements. Our focus lies in the historical exploration of cultural and economic exchanges between Fujian and Taiwan. As a window for cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan, Pingtan's advantageous position in cultural exchange can be leveraged to create a harmonious cross-Straits community."
