Cai Wen, an engineer from Pingtan, tragically lost his life on July 14 while attempting to rescue workers from a sewage well in Fuzhou, Fujian province. Cai was on his way home to pick up his daughter when he heard cries for help and immediately rushed to the scene. Two workers were trapped in the well, and Cai bravely entered the well to save them.

The well was filled with toxic sewage, and the workers were in danger of drowning or being overcome by the noxious fumes. Despite the risks, Cai used his body to support the workers and lift them to safety. He was able to rescue the first worker on his own but needed assistance from bystanders to rescue the second worker.

After both workers were saved, the bystanders attempted to pull Cai out of the well, but he had already lost consciousness and was unresponsive. Firefighters arrived and were able to retrieve Cai and take him to the hospital, but unfortunately, all resuscitation efforts failed.

Cai was a dedicated engineer and is survived by his wife and two young daughters. His friends and family describe him as kind, hardworking, and selfless. Cai's bravery and sacrifice have earned him recognition as a role model and he has been posthumously awarded the title of "Advanced Individual in Seeing Justice and Taking Action" by the local government.

Cai's story has touched many people and he is being remembered as a hero who risked his life to save others. His legacy will continue to inspire others and his sacrifice will always be remembered.
