The island is situated closest to the island of Taiwan on the Chinese mainland, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers.

Thanks to the "funneling effect" of the Taiwan Straits, Pingtan benefits from abundant wind resources throughout the year, making it a popular destination for kiteboarding, jet skiing, sailing, and paddleboarding.
