Fujian Polytechnic of Information Technology (FPIT) in Pingtan, an island off E China’s Fujian province, has been promoting vocational education through its collaboration with Thai institutions. The partnership focuses on implementing a "1+2" talent development mechanism, which combines Chinese language learning, professional skills, and industry exposure. Under this program, Thai students spend one year studying at FPIT and two years in Thailand.

According to Li Ying, dean of the School of Business Administration at FPIT, this talent development approach aims to enhance the Chinese language proficiency of Thai students while engaging them in learning logistics-related professional skills, simulated business operations, transportation processes, and storage management. The goal is to cultivate both expertise and a craftsman spirit among the students.

Furthermore, FPIT has established credit recognition agreements with its Thai partner institutions for Chinese language education and specialized degree programs. This collaboration has been instrumental in promoting Sino-Thai cooperation in the field of education.

To meet the demand for logistics professionals in Thai enterprises who possess knowledge of logistics management and an understanding of Chinese culture, FPIT's instructors worked closely with their Thai counterparts to develop curriculum and training plans. The logistics management program devised by FPIT has become the primary framework for talent cultivation.

FPIT's course "Practical Warehouse Management" has also received official certification from the Thai Ministry of Education.

As the first university in Pingtan, FPIT is dedicated to nurturing outstanding talents and aligning its growth with the island’s development. The college is accelerating its internationalization efforts and striving to create a distinctive brand in international cooperation in vocational education in Fujian. FPIT has received numerous accolades, including being ranked among the "Top 50 Influential Vocational Colleges in the Asia-Pacific Region" in 2018, "Top 50 Vocational Colleges with International Impact in China" in 2019, and the "China-Thailand International Cooperation Contribution Award in Vocational Education" in 2020. It was also selected as a model institution for international cooperation and exchange for vocational education at the Education Plus (6th) International Summit for Applied Education and TVET in 2022.

Li Ying stated, "FPIT will actively explore the '1+2' talent development mechanism to further establish a brand for internationalization in Chinese vocational education. We aim to promote high-quality, standardized, and sustainable development of Sino-Thai international exchanges and cooperation, while enhancing the international influence of Chinese vocational education."
