Pingtan, the closest place on the mainland to Taiwan, has achieved a significant milestone in its e-governance system. It recently received its first online submission of a business registration application from a Taiwan compatriot holding a mainland residence permit. This achievement marks the first instance of Taiwan business registration being conducted entirely online on the mainland.

The new online system eliminates the need for physical visits to government offices. Taiwan shareholders from different locations can now complete the registration process using mobile electronic signatures and identity verification. Once approved, the business license can be directly mailed to the applicants. This streamlined process has garnered high praise from individuals like Ms. Yu, an entrepreneur from Taiwan who started a business in Pingtan last year and is now preparing to open another cultural and creative enterprise. She commended the efficiency of the administrative process and expressed satisfaction with the convenient online registration.

This achievement was made possible through the approval of the national interface for verifying Taiwan compatriots' mainland residence permits. Pingtan aims to expand the application scope of Taiwan Resident Residence Permits, working towards equal convenience for the social application of these permits and mainland residents' identity cards. Previously, due to identity verification limitations, Taiwan compatriots had to manually enter their identification information, obtain queue numbers, and present multiple documents during the registration process. The new verification portal for Taiwan compatriots' residence permits has resolved these issues, greatly facilitating various aspects of their work and daily life.

Looking ahead, Pingtan plans to further enhance online government services for compatriots and businesses from Taiwan. The goal is to gradually expand the range of administrative tasks that can be handled entirely online, simplifying processes and providing greater convenience to Taiwan compatriots in Pingtan.
