A glimpse into Matui Village's rural renaissance
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2023-11-01 | Lin Kongbo, StephanieThe ambitious cultural tourism project in Matui Village of Pingtan has reached the fruition of its third-phase development. Currently, family-friendly tourism amenities have mushroomed within a cluster of charming homestay complexes. Initiated in 2021, the project aims to transform this secluded village into a rustic retreat offering a collection of luxury holiday homes, recreational facilities, and island retreats. Pingtan is a rising international tourism island in China.
Visitors to the newly unveiled "Yisu Village" (Family-friendly Tribe) in Matui Village are greeted with a charming sight of rustic cottages. The exterior boasts spacious platforms, while the interior seamlessly blends primitive wooden and stone elements, creating a harmonious fusion of minimalist aesthetics and rural allure.
The family-friendly complex features 26 well-appointed guest rooms, complemented by shared amenities including a cozy coffee shop and an inviting outdoor swimming pool. Notably, each family room is equipped with a seawater hot spring, providing guests with an exceptional and immersive living experience. According to Shi Minghao, vice general manager of Pingtan Zhonghe Cultural Tourism Development Co., Ltd., this new addition marks a significant step toward enhancing the village's appeal to families and tourists seeking a unique getaway.
The ongoing success of the project is evident with the earlier completion and operation of the sea-view guesthouses and public facilities. These offerings have already attracted numerous visitors, who have been captivated by the village's picturesque coastal setting and the authentic cultural experiences it offers.
Looking ahead, the project has commenced with the construction of 12 newly contracted stone buildings dedicated to the wellness and health-focused section. These structures will undergo meticulous interior renovations, resulting in 50 guest rooms. Additionally, the wellness section will include specialized therapy rooms and a traditional Chinese medicine clinic. Moreover, one of the buildings will be exclusively dedicated to a state-of-the-art therapy center, expected to open its doors to visitors next year.
The tourism project not only contributes to the local economy and the preservation of cultural traditions but also aligns with Pingtan's broader efforts to promote sustainable development as a premier tourist destination.
