Pingtan International Cruise Center celebrated its official opening with the inauguration of Pingtan's first international cruise liner, the “Blue Dream Star,” on November 19. The successful opening ceremony at the Jinjing International Cruise Terminal sets a positive tone for the future of the island's cruise tourism. 

The "Blue Dream Star" is the maiden vessel under the Blue Dream Cruises brand, with a total tonnage of 25,000 tons and a maximum capacity of 1,053 passengers. Nearly 600 tourists embarked on the cruise ship at the Jinjing International Cruise Terminal in Pingtan, commencing a journey to Subic, Philippines, with Xiamen, China, as the final destination. Over the course of five days and four nights, passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy the coastal splendor of these destinations while partaking in various entertainment activities on board.

The inauguration of the Pingtan International Cruise Center signifies the beginning of a new chapter in cruise tourism for Pingtan. It aims to leverage its geographic advantages to expedite the development of cruise routes in Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia. The exploration and establishment of Taiwan Straits and South Pacific cruise routes are also part of the agenda, as Pingtan aims to establish itself as a globally renowned tourism destination.

Recognizing marine tourism as a cornerstone of its tourism industry, Pingtan has devoted concerted efforts to foster the sector for years. The Pingtan International Tourist Island Construction Plan emphasizes the need to accelerate the development of an international tourism framework, with maritime tourism playing a vital role. Pingtan has actively tapped into its marine resources, expanding the scope of marine tourism from "island tours" to "intercity tours" and now to "international tours."

The successful launch of the Pingtan International Cruise Center and its maiden international cruise route marks a significant milestone in Pingtan's tourism landscape. As the city continues to harness its unique coastal resources and geographical advantages, it is poised to become a key player in the global cruise tourism market.
