Pingtan, the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan, owes its burgeoning integrated circuit industry to the efforts of Chen Mengbang. With his vision and expertise, Chen has played a pivotal role in establishing the integrated circuit sector in Pingtan.

Chen Mengbang, a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Brown University in the United States, embarked on his entrepreneurial journey in Pingtan in 2015. Since then, his brainchild, Zongren Technology (Pingtan) Co., Ltd., has flourished, becoming a leading enterprise in Pingtan's semiconductor industry. Over the years, the company has grown to employ more than 70 individuals, with two-thirds of the workforce comprising local Pingtan residents.

In the early stages of its inception in 2016, Zongren Technology recorded a revenue of 9.8 million yuan. Remarkably, by 2023, the company's revenue had surged to an impressive 120 million yuan, solidifying its position as a flagship enterprise in Pingtan's semiconductor landscape. In a significant milestone, Zongren Technology completed its transition to a shareholding system in September 2020 and was listed on the Straits Equity Exchange Center in December of the same year. This historic achievement marked the first listing of a Taiwan-funded enterprise in Pingtan on the exchange.

Chen Mengbang's unwavering commitment to Pingtan's integrated circuit industry is evident in his tireless efforts to bridge connections and foster collaboration. Through his extensive network, he has facilitated the establishment of eight integrated circuit enterprises in Pingtan. These include seven design companies and one testing and cutting factory, all of which are Taiwan-funded enterprises.

Chen Mengbang's entrepreneurial contributions extend beyond his own company. He has played a crucial role in the formation of Pingtan's integrated circuit industry chain, filling the existing void in the sector. Leveraging the island's potential, Chen has been the instrument of promotion for the region's business opportunities, especially from Taiwan. Chen said the company owes its rapid growth to Fujian province's multifarious preferential policies. In Pingtan, Zongren Technology is reaping the rewards of subsidies offered by Pingtan Taiwan Entrepreneurship Park, along with a 15% reduction in corporate income tax. The company has earned recognition as a technology-based enterprise in Fujian Province and has secured millions of yuan in funding incentives.

Led by Chen Mengbang, Zongren Technology has made remarkable strides in research and development. The company's unwavering commitment to innovation has culminated in the accumulation of an impressive portfolio of intellectual property. With 108 authorized integrated circuit layout copyright registrations, 25 invention patents, and 53 utility model patents, Zongren Technology has established a robust foundation of patent protection.

Looking ahead, Chen Mengbang remains steadfast in his mission to further develop and expand Pingtan's integrated circuit industry. He envisions attracting more upstream and downstream enterprises to the region, thereby fostering the creation of a comprehensive industrial chain. By providing ample opportunities for cross-Straits businesses to thrive in Pingtan, Chen aims to solidify the region's position as a vibrant hub for integrated circuit innovation and development.
