On January 30, the 2024 Pingtan-Taiwan New Year LIVE Concert commenced, setting the stage for an evening of fervor and captivating performances to usher in the Lunar New Year.

According to He Shoujian, the artistic director and president of the Pingtan Straits Music Association, the songs performed were curated from timeless classics catering to the 70s and 80s and some modern hits for younger demographics. There is something for everyone!

"Can't get enough, it's too amazing!" said Peng Weixiang, an audience member from Taiwan, currently studying at Xiamen University. He felt that coming to the concert for this exchange was worthwhile. "Seeing the fantastic performance, hearing my favorite songs, and singing along with classmates, the atmosphere was fabulous, giving us a sense of celebrating the New Year together."

Onstage, Taiwanese singer-songwriter Zheng Qiao’an performed "The Green Green Grass of Home" and "We Are Family." "I'm very happy to perform in Pingtan. I hope compatriots from both sides will have frequent exchanges in the future. Wishing everyone a happy New Year."

Malaysian singer Euzen Lim, on her first visit to Pingtan, performed multiple songs that received an enthusiastic response from the audience. "As soon as I arrived in Pingtan, I immediately prepared for the performance. I haven't had the chance to see the beautiful scenery of Pingtan yet. After the performance, I will take the time to appreciate it and recommend it to my friends in Malaysia," said Euzen Lim.

Deng Peishu, chairman of the Pingtan Federation of Literary and Art Circles, stated that the concert added a dash of festivity for the upcoming Lunar New Year and branded the image they were going for - international flair and youthful fashion, paving the path to building a "happy island featuring music and arts."
