34 Taiwan residents successfully acquired mainland driver's licenses in Pingtan, the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan.

Among them, 59-year-old Wang Tianpei, expressed excitement after passing the written exam. Wang, who spent four months preparing online, plans to fulfill his driving dream, taking his family to Fujian or exploring Chengdu.

The process, including simplified or traditional Chinese exam papers, was smooth, with immediate issuance of licenses for added convenience.

First-time mainland visitor Xiao Weijun looks forward to a self-driving tour after obtaining his mainland driver's license.

The Pingtan authorities aim to provide equal convenience to Taiwan compatriots, optimizing processes for an efficient and satisfying experience. Pingtan is the only zone on the mainland for comprehensively piloting cross-Straits integration.
