Pingtan embraces "Remember Me"

On its nationwide release, the emotionally resonant film "Remember Me" 《灿烂的她》has captivated audiences with its vivid depiction of familial bonds set amid the nostalgic landscapes of Pingtan. Lin Shenlan, a viewer, expressed a deep connection to the film as familiar scenes of streets, harbors, and fishing boats unfolded on screen. "It feels so intimate; the movie suddenly felt closer to me," she reflected.

Directed by the talented Xu Wei and featuring lead actors Hui Yinghong and Liu Haocun, "Remember Me" was shot across various locations in Pingtan for over three months. The film's setting, including Dafu Village, Matui Village, Haitan Commercial Street, Chengguan Agricultural Market, and Tannan Bay Scenic Area, showcases the distinct charm of the region.

Blown away by the authenticity of Pingtan's stone houses, Lin Shenlan described the setting as "both surprising and familiar." She, along with many others, hopes that films like "Remember Me" will continue to highlight the natural beauty and cultural spirit of Pingtan.

Locals like Zhang, a BnB owner, were not only part of the film's audience but also part of its cast. Playing a police officer, Zhang had the opportunity to interact with the lead actors and was impressed by their professionalism. "Being part of this heartwarming film, which was entirely shot in Pingtan, is an honor," Zhang shared. "It's a window for those who haven't visited to discover the beauty and allure of this place."

"Remember Me" narrates the moving story of a grandmother and granddaughter who, after a twelve-year separation, find their way back to each other. The film's heartfelt exploration of family love has resonated with many, as described by viewer Han Wenjing: "The acting was excellent, particularly the grandmother's portrayal of pure, unconditional love for her granddaughter. It was deeply moving and brought many to tears."
