The 2024 World Beach Handball Championship is set to make waves in Pingtan, Fujian, China, starting from June 18th and running for a thrilling six days. The event will feature 32 teams from around the globe, with an equal number of men's and women's teams vying for the championship title in their respective categories.

The draw for the tournament took place on May 3rd, marking the transition from preparation to the final stretch for the teams. With the lineups now confirmed, athletes are gearing up for the competition, ready to showcase their prowess on the sandy battleground.

In the men's division, the teams are divided into four groups, with notable participants including Hungary, Denmark, Oman, Australia, Brazil, China, Spain, Tunisia, Croatia, Argentina, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Germany, Qatar, Uruguay, and the United States.

The women's competition is equally competitive, with teams from Portugal, China, the Philippines, Australia, Spain, Argentina, Vietnam, Croatia, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, the United States, Germany, Brazil, Greece, and Puerto Rico.

Beach Handball, a sport that originated in Italy in 1992, has seen its World Championships held biennially since 2004. The absence of the events in 2020 and 2022 due to the pandemic has only fueled the fervor for this year' s showdown.

Looking back at the history of the championships, Brazil has been a dominant force in the men's category, securing five titles, with Croatia following closely with two championships. In the women's category, Brazil has claimed three titles, and the Chinese women's team has made significant strides, earning a bronze medal in the 2023 World Beach Handball Tour Finals.

As the world's attention turns to Pingtan, the Chinese men's and women's beach handball teams are in full training mode , preparing to give their best performance on the international stage.

The event has captured the interest of major media outlets, including the People's Daily Online and People's Sports, all eagerly awaiting the start of this premier competition.
