"I'm in decent shape right now, but I believe there's still room for improvement," said Chen, who is focused on being her best, emphasizing the importance of buffing up to battle the challenging weather conditions.
Chen, who secured her spot in the Paris Olympics with a 7th place finish at the 2023 World Sailing Championships, is not just aiming to participate; she's set her sights on the gold. Her recent victory in the women's kiteboarding event at the 19th Asian Games, marking the first gold medal for a Pingtan native at the Games, has significantly boosted her confidence.
"Winning the gold at the Olympics is my goal," she expressed. "We've had some strong international performances, including my 7th place at the World Championships and a 4th place finish at the Paris Olympic test event. These experiences have shown me where I need to improve, and I'm fully committed to preparing to compete at my best against international athletes."
Chen's training is yielding noticeable results, and she is optimistic about her and Team China's chances at the Olympics. "The prospects for winning a medal are quite promising. Personally, I believe the possibility of securing a medal, or even the top prize is very real. My focus now is on bringing out my best performance at the Olympics," she added.
