Chasing dreams on the coast: A young entrepreneur's journey in Pingtan
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2024-05-29 | Lin Kongbo, StephanieIn the serene village of Tanshui, Pingtan, a new gem has opened its doors to travelers seeking a unique retreat. Sur Sea B&B, the brainchild of Zhang Shujin, a vibrant post-95s generation from Sanming, is turning heads with his unique experience.
Nestled amidst the picturesque stone houses with the vast ocean as its backdrop, Sur Sea B&B offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The B&B's spacious courtyard is a canvas of natural beauty, featuring an outdoor terrace adorned with comfortable furniture and a breathtaking infinity pool that seems to merge with the sea.
"I wanted to create a quiet, comfy space packed with artsy vibes," says Zhang Shujin, the passionate owner who personally oversees every aspect of the B&B. "Here, guests can leave their worries behind and have a relaxing time."
The B&B, composed of two stone houses, boasts open rooms with a minimalist design that contrasts concrete floors with white walls, accentuated by large windows offering stunning sea views. The neutral color palette of white, beige, and brown creates a serene and calming atmosphere, where guests can soak in the interplay of sea and mountain views.
On a recent evening, the courtyard came alive with the aroma of barbecue wafting through the air as Zhang Shujin hosted a special feast for his guests. "I put a lot of thought into this barbecue, even though it was just a trial," he shares, having personally selected fresh seafood and vegetables for the occasion.
Guests, including Wu Yunyu from Zhejiang, raved about the experience. "I didn't expect to experience such hospitality and entertainment from a B&B. The seafood was delicious. It was nice to mingle with people," she says, reflecting on the convivial atmosphere under the stars.
Zhang's leap into the B&B industry was a bold one, fueled by a desire for freedom and a dream. After working in major cities and growing disillusioned with the 9-to-5 grind, he was drawn to the charm of the B&B sector. "I was initially considering Lijiang, but when I visited Pingtan, I was captivated by the scenery and knew this was the place," he recalls.
In Tanshui Village, he found not only the perfect location but also a community that embraced his vision. The B&B has become more than just a business; it's a platform for Zhang to realize his dreams and contribute to the warmth and happiness of his guests.
"Sur Sea means 'narrating the sea,' and we serve our guests with 100% sincerity," Zhang explains, emphasizing the importance of heartfelt service in the hospitality industry.
As Zhang looks to the future, he is filled with confidence and anticipation, aiming to expand the B&B's reach and attract more visitors to experience the unique charm of Pingtan.
"Since our opening in May, we've had our first full house, and it feels as bright as the weather in Pingtan," Zhang writes in his diary, which is filled with observations, guest stories, and reflections on life and nature.
For Zhang, Pingtan is more than just a beautiful destination; it's a place that has taught him to listen—to the sea, the wind, and his own heart. And as he sits by the sea at night, gazing at the stars, he is filled with a sense of purpose and determination.
"I believe that as long as we do things with our hearts, everyone can find their own peace and happiness," Zhang says with a smile, his eyes gleaming with the promise of a bright future.
