The 2024 National Kiteboarding Championship is set to take flight from June 26 to July 3 in the scenic waters of Pingtan, a rising international tourism island in China. This marks the first time the prestigious event has graced the shores of Pingtan, a region known for its early adoption and promotion of kiteboarding.

The competition will feature both Olympic and Youth categories, showcasing the best in the sport. The Olympic class will include Men's and Women's Hydrofoil Kiteboard events, with contests in freestyle, long-distance, and slalom disciplines. The Youth class, for competitors under 21, will mirror the Olympic class structure, providing a platform for young talents to demonstrate their skills in the same competitive spirit.

"Hosting the National Kiteboarding Championship is a significant milestone for Pingtan," said Lin Wenliang, Vice President of the Pingtan Kitesurfing Association. "This event is also the final official competition the national kiteboarding team will participate in before the Paris 2024 Olympics."

Pingtan has been at the forefront of kiteboarding in China since 2012, hosting several international kiteboarding events, including the Kiteboarding Asian Tour, the World Kiteboarding Championship Tour, the World Kiteboarding Twin-Tip Championship, and the China Kiteboarding Tour.

The Pingtan International Sailing Sports Base, set to open this year, is poised to become China's first national-level base for sailing sports, offering comprehensive facilities and professional services. It is expected to become a dream destination for kiteboarding enthusiasts and a catalyst for the island's sports and tourism brand. "The base's state-of-the-art facilities and services will further enhance Pingtan's reputation as a vibrant island for brand sports events," said a spokesperson from the Pingtan Cultural Tourism Development Group.
