This past Dragon Boat Festival, Pingtan made waves in the tourism industry, reporting a significant increase in both visitor numbers and total spending. According to the Tourism and Culture Sports Bureau of Pingtan, the holiday period saw a robust 11.3% increase in tourist arrivals, welcoming 174,900 visitors, alongside a 12.2% rise in total tourist expenditure, amounting to 134 million yuan.

Pingtan enriched its cultural and tourism product offerings. Traditional Dragon Boat Festival activities such as making Zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings), hanging mugwort (ai cao), eating Mian Bing (rolled pancakes), and showcasing intangible cultural heritage took center stage, enveloping the holiday in a celebration of cultural charm.

A series of cultural events were held, including the 2024 Pingtan "Cultural and Natural Heritage Day" & the 3rd Pingtan Rice and Herb Paste Culture Promotion Event, the 2nd Pingtan Rice and Herb Paste Traditional Chinese Medicine Cultural Exchange, and the Integration of Intangible Cultural Heritage and Health Tourism Development Seminar, along with the first season of the Pingtan-Taiwan Poetry Conference and various artistic performances, treating citizens and tourists to a feast of culture.

Local attractions introduced a variety of new ways to celebrate the festival, integrating innovative products and consumption scenarios to stimulate holiday spending. The tourism complex Haitan Ancient Town, for instance, launched a series of cultural and tourism consumer activities that were both artistic and trendy, including street performances and China chic parades.

Famous spots such as the 68-Nautical-Mile scenic area, Longwangtou Bathing Beach, East China Sea Fairyland, Northern Ecological Corridor, and Tannan Bay continued to be popular photography points, with various cultural tourism activities in full swing.

A visitor from Henan, Ms. Chen, remarked, "The beauty of Pingtan lies not only in its natural landscapes but also in its long-standing historical culture and simple folk customs. Each visit leaves a deep impression and beautiful memories."
