Pingtan, the second international tourism island in China, is set to made a splash on the global sports scene as it hosts the XI IHF Men's and Women's Beach Handball World Championships for the first time. From June 18th to 23rd, Pingtan is welcoming this prestigious event to Chinese shores.

The event drew 32 men's and women's teams from 21 countries and regions, including the United States, Australia, and China, with each team fielding 10 players.

In addition to the sandy action, a series of cultural activities took place to celebrate the sport, including a Beach Handball Sunset "Hi-Beer" Party, a Beach Handball Experience Match, and a guided tour of Pingtan led by local hosts.

Beach handball, which originated in Italy, is a sport that combines health, vitality, and high entertainment value. It has gained recognition as a demonstration sport at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The XI IHF Men's and Women's Beach Handball World Championships represents the pinnacle of the sport, held biennially and attracting the best teams from around the globe.
