New drama brings Teresa Teng's story to life in Pingtan

The drama tells the inspiring story of Teresa Teng, celebrated as the "Eternal Voice of the Chinese-speaking World," tracing her journey from a modest village girl to an iconic music legend. Officially endorsed by Teng's family, this adaptation captures the essence of her real-life struggles and triumphs.
To ensure authenticity, the production team undertook extensive research. They visited Teng's relatives and friends, gathered insights, and conducted thorough studies at the Teresa Teng Culture and Education Foundation and the Teresa Teng Museum. "We wanted to present a vivid portrayal of Teresa Teng," said the director Wu Mong-en.
The script, meticulously crafted over four years, delves deep into Teng's life and music, aiming to take viewers on an immersive journey through her dream-chasing years. "Our goal was to bring Teresa Teng's inspiring story to life, offering a deeper connection to her legacy," added Wu.
The production team spared no effort in achieving historical accuracy, filming in various locations worldwide to recreate the era's atmosphere. The primary filming location, the Pingtan Taiwan-style Film and Television Base, spans nearly 60 mu and features designs by professional architects from Taiwan. This extensive set authentically replicates village life scenes, Teng's childhood home, and performance venues. It also includes a large-scale cluster of Taiwan-style buildings, adding to the authenticity.
Pingtan, leveraging its natural beauty and proximity to Taiwan, has been actively developing its film and entertainment industry. The island boasts numerous filming locations, including Zhuyu Bay Film and Television Base, Taiwan-style Film and Television Base, Tannan Bay, and Beigang Cultural and Creative Village. These sites have attracted over 100 production teams, enhancing Pingtan's reputation as a premier island filming destination.
