Pingtan Port welcomed the Oriental Xiamen its first-ever ten-thousand-ton container ship, on July 3. The ship, operated by Fujian Oriental Shipping Co., Ltd., docked at Pingtan Jinjing Wharf, having completed its cargo operations and preparing to depart for its next destination.

The vessel, which arrived on July 2, is part of a new weekly service route connecting Kaohsiung, Pingtan, and Mawei. Carrying a variety of goods, including frozen squid and personal care items, the ship is set to enhance Pingtan's shipping capacity to Taiwan's southern region.

Pingtan authorities implemented a streamlined process to ensure efficient customs clearance. "We optimized our operations with a 'one-stop' service to facilitate the ship's swift and secure passage," said officer Xiao Yaogui.

With a length of 121.87 meters and a cargo capacity of 566 TEUs, the Oriental Xiamen is a significant addition to Pingtan's maritime fleet. Wu Xudong, from Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone Port Development Co., Ltd., reported a surge in import volumes and the flourishing of cross-border e-commerce, projecting a container volume increase of over 30% this year.
