Pingtan, China, roared with excitement as the 2024 Pingtan International Motorsport Carnival drew to a thrilling close on August 11. The culmination of two prestigious races, the GT Invitational Series - 2024 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing China GR86 Cup and the Hong Kong MINI Series, marked a pinnacle of speed and adrenaline on the Ruyi Lake International City Circuit.
Amidst the scorching heat, racers' spirits remained unwavering as they piloted their vehicles with relentless determination. The roar of engines reverberated through the air, igniting a fiery atmosphere for spectators who were treated to a dazzling display of automotive prowess. The final standoffs saw Zhou Han of the 610Racing Team clinch the AT class victory in the GR86 Cup, while Liu Zilong secured the MT class triumph. In the Hong Kong MINI Series, Wang Yongsen emerged victorious, celebrating his maiden win on Pingtan's challenging track.
"This is my first time racing in Pingtan, and the experience has been incredible," Wang Yongsen exclaimed. "The bends here are truly challenging and offer a unique thrill."
The three-day event not only showcased the pinnacle of motorsport but also etched unforgettable memories for both racers and enthusiasts. With the conclusion of these races, anticipation for the next chapter of the carnival is soaring. Upcoming highlights include the highly anticipated CEC China Endurance Championship, set to grace Pingtan from August 29 to September 1.
Huang Wei, general manager of Pingtan Automotive Culture Development Co., Ltd., previewed the upcoming extravaganza, revealing plans to enhance the event experience. "For the CEC, we'll make significant adjustments and improvements to the venue, ensuring optimal conditions for racers and spectators," he shared. "Food areas will be set up nearby, allowing visitors to indulge in culinary delights while enjoying the thrill of motorsport."
