Pingtan Customs has proudly announced the first-year anniversary of its groundbreaking smart sealing system, marking a significant milestone in the modernization of container operations and enhancing the region's global trade efficiency. This innovative technology, powered by "5G+AI," has transformed the way containers are sealed, providing a seamless and expedited process for businesses operating in the area.

The smart sealing system was initially introduced in Pingtan's Xiaodubai Customs Supervision Area as part of a pilot project, demonstrating its effectiveness and potential. Following its successful roll-out, the system was expanded to cover all cross-border e-commerce export sites, ensuring comprehensive coverage across Pingtan Customs' jurisdiction.

"The smart sealing system has been a game-changer," said Zhao Huan, deputy general manager of the Pingtan Port Affairs Development Company. "It allows for immediate sealing and dispatch of containers, drastically reducing processing times and boosting throughput speeds. This not only cuts costs for businesses but also elevates Pingtan Port's international competitiveness, making it a preferred destination for global trade."

The system's key features include 24/7 automation, remote monitoring through audio-visual cameras and centralized monitoring screens, and cost savings for enterprises. With a simple request from enterprises via mobile devices, containers can be automatically sealed within seconds, streamlining the entire process. This efficiency has led to significant savings, with over 7,743 containers sealed in the system's first year, saving businesses over 1 million yuan in costs.

"We've been able to free up over 600 person-hours of customs supervision resources thanks to this system," added Lu Fuchuan, chief of the Jinjing Office Logistics Supervision Department of Pingtan Customs. "Our team is continuously refining the system's algorithms to ensure precise and secure sealing."
