Pingtan Island, known for its pristine beaches and rich maritime heritage, now invites visitors on a gastronomic adventure with the opening of CIAO Bakery & Coffee. "Here, time seems to slow down," remarked a visitor from Hunan, Chen Qiang, as he savored a sip of the island-inspired coffee and gazed out at the sunset over the sea from CIAO's second-floor terrace. CIAO, founded by Li Shuheng, a successful entrepreneur from Shenzhen who fell in love with Pingtan, offers more than just a cup of joe; it's a testament to the fusion of old and new, tradition and innovation.

Li shared, "Our team members are all 'extractors,' distilling the essence of Pingtan's island charm and infusing it into our products and spaces. We want to share the beauty of this place with every customer who walks through our doors."

Cups of freshly brewed coffee drinks

The coffee corner, manned by barista Tian Wen from Guizhou, showcases the intricacies of coffee-making. "Good coffee is 'heard,' not just tasted," Tian explained, emphasizing the importance of listening to the subtle sounds of the brewing process to ensure each cup's perfect balance. From the traditional espresso to innovative drinks like "Blue Tears" and "Misty Forest," inspired by Pingtan's natural wonders, the menu promises a taste of the island in every sip.

But the culinary journey doesn't end with coffee. CIAO's bakery, headed by master baker Liu Dong from Shanghai, introduces innovative baked delights using local ingredients. The "Pingtan Bread," stuffed with locally grown cactus fruit and seafood, is a standout, blending the island's flavors with traditional baking techniques. Liu Dong said, "We use Pingtan's unique ingredients to tell the island's story through our bread. Every bite is a celebration of this island."

The museum's atmosphere is a harmonious blend of rustic charm and modern elegance, creating a space where visitors can unwind and immerse themselves in Pingtan's laid-back lifestyle. "Our team brings diverse backgrounds and perspectives, making us more creative," Li Shuheng added. "We strive to provide our guests with unforgettable experiences that capture the essence of Pingtan."

As the golden week of National Day approaches, CIAO Bakery & Coffee invites travelers to embark on a gastronomic odyssey, where every meal becomes a story, and every sip a memory of Pingtan's unforgettable charm.
