China's first a cappella music festival to charm in Pingtan

This event aims to establish a unique musical identity for the island, blending the traditional with the contemporary to create a new cultural paradigm.
The festival will kick off with a thought-provoking symposium on the evening of October 18, where industry experts and scholars will converge to discuss the synergy between music and tourism, charting a course for the future of a cappella in China.
The official opening ceremony on the morning of October 19 will see the birth of the China A Cappella University Alliance and the launch of the "China (Pingtan) A Cappella Center" project, marking a significant step in fostering collaboration among China's academic and professional music communities.
On the evening of the 19th, the Pingtan International Performing Arts Center will host an exchange concert featuring top-tier a cappella groups from across the country, including the City Singers, CHO A Cappella Group, and Pinocchio A Cappella Group, with a guest appearance by the Xiamen No. 6 Middle School Chorus.
For two evenings, from October 18 to 19, Pingtan's Longwangtou Square will transform into an open-air stage, where approximately 20 a cappella ensembles from prestigious universities such as the Central Conservatory of Music, Tsinghua University, and the University of Science and Technology of China will perform.
To further amplify the festival's impact, organizers will release a documentary that intertwines the themes of universities, music, and cultural tourism, aiming to position Pingtan as a hub for a cappella exchanges among Chinese universities.
Pingtan, China's fifth-largest island, boasts over 408 kilometers of coastline, more than 70 kilometers of golden sandy beaches, and the breathtaking "Blue Tears" phenomenon, making it a visual feast for visitors. In recent years, Pingtan has been focusing on developing an "international flair, youthful fashion" brand, striving to become an island of starry seas and romance, an island of music, art, and joy, an island of brand events and energy, and an island for delightful travel experiences.
The island has also been recognized for its sports tourism, being awarded Top Ten National Sports Tourism Destinations for seven consecutive years, and has been listed among the first batch of the Islands of Harmony and Beauty in China, as well as one of the Top Five Scenic Islands for Filming.
In 2023, Pingtan achieved a triple breakthrough in tourism, with the number of visitors exceeding ten million for the first time, total tourism revenue breaking one billion yuan, and per capita tourist consumption surpassing one thousand yuan.
