Pingtan welcomed a new era of international education cooperation as the China Satellite Campus of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was officially unveiled in a grand ceremony on the morning of October 12. The occasion marked the first international education collaboration project in Pingtan, attracting 60 esteemed guests from both China and Malaysia, including He Jiemin, a member of the Party Working Committee and deputy director of the Administrative Committee of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, and Ismi Arif Ismail, vice president of UPM.

"We warmly welcome our Malaysian guests and extend our heartfelt congratulations on the establishment of UPM's China Satellite Campus here in Pingtan," said He Jiemin during the ceremony. "This is a significant breakthrough in our efforts to introduce high-quality international educational resources and an important step forward in promoting international scientific research, innovation, and talent cultivation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. We hope to deepen our pragmatic cooperation and turn this satellite campus into an international talent hub, injecting new vitality into Pingtan's economic and social development."

Echoing these sentiments, Ismi Arif Ismail expressed his admiration for Pingtan's picturesque coastal scenery and its open and inclusive character. "Pingtan is undoubtedly one of China's most promising regions, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to establish our satellite campus here," he said. "We envision this campus to serve as a research platform, an exchange hub for international students, and a center for scientific achievements transformation. Together, we aim to cultivate highly qualified talents with international perspectives and competitiveness, further strengthening the friendly ties between Malaysia and China."

UPM is renowned as a comprehensive research university in Southeast Asia.
