Jinjing Port of Pingtan, an island off the coast of E China's Fujian province, imported its first batch of semiconductor manufacturing equipment on October 17, marking a groundbreaking moment for the island's technological advancement and logistics capabilities.
The event unfolded as the "Taipei Express" cargo vessel arrived at Pingtan Jinjing Port, carrying seven photomask storage units destined to boost the production capacity of semiconductor companies on the mainland. The large and delicate equipment was transported using air-suspension shock-absorbing vehicles.
"The size and delicacy of these photomask storage units necessitated a highly specialized transportation method," said Peng Guohua, precision transportation product manager at Shanghai Kai'erwei International Logistics Co., Ltd.
After clearing customs at Pingtan Jinjing Port, the photomask storage units were dispatched to Wuhan, Hubei province, where they will enhance the production capacity of local integrated circuit manufacturers.
"This import underscores Pingtan's unique position as a gateway for cross-Straits cooperation in high-tech industries," said Zeng Qingqin, director of Pingtan Customs Office at Jinjing. "We will continue to enhance our port's operational capacity and management standards, fueling Pingtan's opening-up and development journey."
