The World Maritime Equipment Conference 2024, hosted by the Fujian Provincial Government, opened in Fuzhou on November 15. Concurrently, the Fujian Marine Economic Industry Cooperation and Innovative Development Conference was held, showcasing a significant milestone in marine economic development.  

During the signing ceremony, Pingtan, an island off the coast of Fujian, inked a strategic cooperation agreement to construct the Pingtan Deep-Sea Aquaculture Industrial Park Project at the conference.

According to reports, this project is expected to have a total investment of approximately 500 million yuan and a total sea area of about 3,000 mu (approximately 200 hectares). Notably, the first pilot project, the maritime multi-functional platform dubbed "Qilin No.1," is situated in the deep-sea waters off the coast of Pingtan's Tannan Bay. This platform boasts a culture water volume of approximately 62,000 cubic meters and an investment of 150 million yuan. It will be equipped with high-end tourism facilities such as accommodation, dining, and yacht services, adopting an innovative "fishery-tourism integration" business model.

This signing signifies a breakthrough in promoting the high-end, environmentally sustainable, and intelligent development of the marine economy in Pingtan. It marks a significant milestone in advancing the transformation and upgrading of the offshore aquaculture industry in the region.
