Pingtan, a vibrant pilot zone in China, has been at the forefront of the global green transition, rolling out a series of groundbreaking initiatives for a sustainable future. In recent years, the region has introduced a slew of policies to support green parks and low-carbon industries, encouraging businesses to produce eco-friendly products while investing heavily in green technology innovation.

At the World Maritime Equipment Conference 2024 held in Fuzhou, a new energy polyethylene vessel dubbed "unsinkable" by the Fanhai Marine Engineering Intelligence Equipment Company garnered significant attention. This vessel showcased the company's prowess in new material shipbuilding, marking a milestone for Pingtan's advanced manufacturing sector.

Earlier this year, Fanhai signed a strategic cooperation agreement to establish a new material shipbuilding production base in Pingtan. The establishment is expected to catalyze the growth of Pingtan's tourism and marine economy, as well as boost the development of Fujian's new material shipbuilding industry.

Pingtan's green industrial development has also yielded remarkable results. During the 22nd China Straits Innovation and Projects Fair, the Pingtan Pavilion highlighted the achievements of the region's new energy applications, green energy conservation, and intelligent low-carbon management. These displays not only enhanced Pingtan's reputation but also drew the attention of numerous investors.

To further propel its zero-carbon international tourism island aspirations, Pingtan launched the "Lan Carbon" eco-product on November 5, signifying a crucial step forward in its green journey. According to professional calculations, Pingtan's total carbon sequestration amounts to 274,000 tons, with an initial offering of 85,000 tons. Through the "Pingtan Lan Carbon" WeChat mini-program, tourists can purchase carbon sink credits and enjoy exclusive discounts on a range of zero-carbon tourism products, encompassing dining, lodging, transportation, entertainment, and shopping.

Achieving the dual carbon goals—carbon peak and carbon neutrality—necessitates a green and low-carbon energy development strategy. Pingtan has been actively exploring and innovating in green and low-carbon industries, with wind power emerging as a notable success story. Now, Pingtan strives to build a zero-carbon international tourism island and has achieved full coverage of green electricity, elevating its low-carbon development to a new level.
