The delegation engaged in field visits and lectures, experiencing Pingtan's unique island scenery and exploring its deep ties with the Austronesian peoples.
During their visit, the delegation toured various attractions in Pingtan, including the 68 Town, the Eye of the Straits, the Vinyl Music Records Museum, and Houyan Islet. They were briefed on Pingtan's achievements in the cultural tourism industry and cross-Straits integration. Additionally, at the Pingtan International Research Center for Austronesian Archaeology, the students visited the Guishan archaeological site, where they learned about the origins and migration of the Austronesian peoples.
A special lecture on Austronesian culture was also held, introducing participants to Pingtan's natural environment, historical culture, and the latest archaeological research findings through four themes: azure skies and green seas, a gathering of cultures, Austronesian imprints, and root tracing. Natasha, a student from Papua New Guinea who has been studying in China for ten years and is currently pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Economics, expressed her gratitude for the enriching experience, stating that the visit not only allowed her to see historical relics but also understand how these artifacts were discovered.
The exchange program underscored Pingtan's role as a bridge between China and the Pacific Island countries, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation through cultural and educational exchanges.
