Pingtan Power Supply Company, in collaboration with China Mobile Pingtan Branch, has launched a pioneering 5G power virtual private network (VPN) for electric control services, setting a precedent in the region. This project uses 5G hard slicing technology to establish a dedicated, secure, and reliable network tailored for power grid operations.

According to Ye Jinfeng, from the Operation and Maintenance Department of Pingtan Power Supply Company, the 5G hard slicing network offers a dedicated, secure channel for data collection, transmission, and processing, ensuring the stability of power control services. This innovation not only enhances communication reliability but also safeguards system security.

Cai Hongbiao, solution manager at China Mobile Pingtan Branch, emphasized the project's benefits, which include intelligent meter reading, real-time monitoring of substation anomalies, reduced labor costs, and improved energy efficiency. This advancement marks a significant step forward in integrating technology with power grid management, boosting security, efficiency, and sustainability.
