en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2025-01-13 | Lin Kongbo, StephaniePingtan, an island off the coast of E China's Fujian province, has taken a significant step towards its new power system and "Zero Carbon Island" initiative with the successful power transmission of the Pingtan Centralized Shared Energy Storage Station Project (Phase I).
The Pingtan Centralized Shared Energy Storage Station Project (Phase I) boasts 72 battery containers and 40 integrated power conversion and boosting units, with a storage capacity exceeding 200,000 kWh and the capability to complete a full charge or discharge in just two hours.
"The successful power transmission of this shared energy storage station project (Phase I) will not only sustain storage support for the development of the offshore wind power industry in Pingtan, enhancing its capacity for wind power consumption, but also offer peak shaving and frequency modulation resources for island-type regional power grids," said Yan Dejie, director of the Development and Construction Department of the State Grid Pingtan Power Supply Company.
Earlier in 2024, the National Energy Administration announced a list of national pilot and demonstration projects for new energy storage, with the Pingtan Centralized Shared Energy Storage Station Project (Phase I) being the sole entry from Fujian Province.
