As the Lunar New Year approaches, the Pingtan narcissus, renowned for its compact size, abundant blooms, and fragrant aroma, is poised to make its annual appearance in markets. This beloved flower, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity, is a favorite among Pingtan residents during the festive season.
On January 10, in the storage warehouse of narcissus bulbs in Xiadilou Village, rows of potted narcissus bulbs were neatly arranged, ready for sale. Li Baosong, head of Pingtan Liyuan Agricultural Development Company, shared that these bulbs are expected to hit the market by mid-December in the lunar calendar, with numerous orders already placed. Li and his team diligently care for the potted bulbs, ensuring each is well-watered, shielded from excessive sunlight, and maintained in pristine condition for customers.
"This year, we've prepared over 2,000 pots of narcissus in various sizes, including 8-inch, 9.5-inch, 10-inch, and 11-inch varieties. We've staggered the potting process to ensure the flowers bloom sequentially throughout the Spring Festival," Li explained.
In recent years, the Pingtan narcissus has gained prominence, frequently featured in major exhibitions. "We plan to showcase the Pingtan narcissus at the Fuzhou Convention and Exhibition Center's Jianxin Flower Market this year," Li added. "This will help elevate the brand and increase its recognition."
