As the Spring Festival nears, Pingtan Customs in China's Fujian province is ensuring that the shelves of households across the country are filled with exotic treats from around the globe. Inside the Pingtan Cross-Border E-Commerce Logistics Park, warehouses are brimming with specialty New Year goods from countries like Italy, Australia, Japan, and Korea, ready to be dispatched to eager consumers nationwide.
"We are seeing a surge in orders before the Spring Festival," said Chen Xiaowen, head of Fujian Lanhe Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. "Our daily shipment volume reaches about 24,000 orders, marking a 35% increase compared to the previous year. Popular items include beauty products, health supplements, and alcoholic beverages, with many international brands launching special editions tailored for the Chinese New Year, which are highly favored by domestic consumers."
To meet heightened demand and ensure timely delivery, Pingtan Customs has ramped up its operations with great zeal. Conducting pre-holiday research, they collaborated closely with cross-border e-commerce companies and warehouse logistics providers to gain insights into market demands. They have introduced efficient measures such as immediate reporting and review, priority inspections, and expedited customs releases, ensuring a swift and smooth customs clearance process for businesses.
According to data from the Customs' cross-border e-commerce management platform, Pingtan Customs monitored the value of cross-border e-commerce online shopping bonded imports totaling 6.247 billion yuan in 2024, representing a year-on-year increase of 15.53%.
