Pingtan Island emerged as a bustling tourist hotspot during the 2025 Spring Festival, welcoming 478,200 visitors who flocked to experience its stunning natural scenery and vibrant folk culture activities. According to the Tourism, Culture, and Sports Bureau of Pingtan, overnight stays accounted for 58.3% of total visitors, with total tourism spending reaching 447 million Chinese yuan, marking a 1.7% increase from the previous year.

Scenes of packed attractions and lively festivals greeted visitors across Pingtan. At the Tannan Bay scenic area, families posed for photos at iconic spots along the sandy shore, while wooden walkways teemed with people enjoying the coastal views. Lounges in the leisure area were filled as tourists soaked up the relaxed atmosphere of the holiday season.

At the 68-Nautical-Mile scenic area, tourists lined up for photos, their faces beaming with excitement and joy. "This is our third day here and it's been fantastic. The scenery here is breathtaking and uplifting," said Shen Yanting, a tourist from Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. "Standing here, the closest point on the Chinese mainland to Taiwan Island, we can feel the deep kinship between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits."

To cater to the surge of visitors during the Spring Festival, several tourist villages in the Junshan area organized special activities to enhance the festive atmosphere. On the fourth day of the new year, Yuyu Village hosted the "Enjoy the Mountains and Seas of Yuyu for a Joyful Spring Festival" event, with volunteers visiting homestays to extend New Year greetings to both hosts and guests. In Matui Village, homestay owners organized "Saxophone, Sunset, and Nocturne Parties" on the third and fourth days of the new year, inviting bands and singers to entertain guests with musical instruments and popular songs.

To further enhance the tourist experience, Pingtan introduced special offers such as combined ticket packages for multiple attraction entries and planned a series of diverse tourism and cultural activities during the Spring Festival. These activities included exploring "Blessed Scenery," participating in "Fun" folk customs, staying in "Seaside Homestays," tasting "Blessed Flavors," watching "Blessed Plays," and enjoying shopping sprees. These initiatives not only enriched visitors' New Year experiences but also significantly boosted tourism consumption.

Pingtan's homestays, with their unique charm and cultural experiences, garnered praise from numerous tourists. During the Spring Festival, several homestay owners in Yutang Village jointly initiated a village ramble, sharing stories of the stone villages through their local perspectives and providing visitors with deeper insights into Pingtan's natural and cultural landscapes. Meanwhile, homestays in Junshan Village organized a series of special activities, including a "Rubbing" handicraft featuring intangible cultural heritage projects. Feng Ting, a homestay manager, noted that her homestay was nearly fully booked every day during the Spring Festival, with tourists from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Beijing.

"This trip to Pingtan has been incredibly rewarding! I used to think all beaches were pretty much the same, but coming here, I discovered that Pingtan's beaches are vast, with each having its unique charm. Moreover, this village ramble tourism style is fantastic, allowing us to learn a lot and gain a sense of fulfillment," said Gu Jinlong, a tourist from Heilongjiang Province.
