Quirky stones exhibition unveils artistic charms in Pingtan

Stone appreciation is an integral part of China's traditional culture, encompassing the arts of discovery, connoisseurship, carving, naming, and photography. Stones from different longitudes and latitudes vary greatly, offering diverse aesthetic values.
Surrounded by the sea on all sides, Pingtan boasts abundant resources of ornamental stones, renowned for their diverse shapes, intricate patterns, and unique landscapes. These stones serve as a prestigious calling card for Pingtan's international exchanges.
The four-day exhibition featured approximately 260 stones, spanning various categories such as Pingtan Island Stone, Yangtze River Stone, Taihu Lake Stone, Wujiang River Stone, Water-washed Stone, and Malachite.
"Ninety percent of the displayed stones are sourced from Pingtan, including previously unreleased images of peculiar rocks," revealed Lin Yong, president of the Pingtan Ornamental Stone Association.
Moreover, the exhibition showcased local delicacies like Pingtan Pea Noodle and Sweet Potato Starch Noodle, as well as displays of Pingtan seashells, oil paintings, and relief sculptures, offering a comprehensive cultural experience.
