Pingtan Agricultural Products Cold Chain Logistics Infrastructure Project under intensive construction

Pingtan, China, is rapidly advancing its logistics hub development with a series of significant infrastructure projects aimed at bolstering its cold chain capabilities. Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced an optimized layout for national logistics hubs, adding 26 new hubs to the list, including Pingtan as a trade-service-oriented hub. This designation promises a powerful boost to Pingtan's logistics industry.

Pingtan has seen tremendous growth in the logistics sector over the years, with state-owned enterprises playing a pivotal role. This new opportunity will enable it to expand logistics infrastructure and services further."

One of the key projects is the Pingtan Jinjing International Smart Logistics Park A-Zone, a key project for Fujian Province in 2025 with a total investment of approximately RMB 200 million and a gross floor area of around 45,000 square meters.

"We anticipate completing the project by the end of October this year," said Lin Zimin, deputy manager of the Construction Management Department of Pingtan Real Development Group. "Upon completion, it will become a comprehensive logistics park integrating bonded processing, cross-border e-commerce, and large-scale cargo warehousing, supporting Pingtan's goal of establishing a trade-service-oriented national logistics hub."

Pingtan is also making strides in cold chain logistics. The Meat Processing Plant, also known as the Pingtan Fresh Cold Chain Production Base (Phase I), has already achieved integration in pig slaughtering, processing, cold chain, distribution, and sales. Work on Phase II is in full swing, with plans to complete construction and commence operations in September this year. This phase focuses on constructing a processing and distribution center, including a central kitchen and a prepared food factory, emphasizing the development of livestock and seafood prepared meals to complement Phase I and form a modern agricultural product supply chain base.

Moreover, the Pingtan Agricultural Products Cold Chain Logistics Infrastructure Project is under construction at a rapid pace. With a total investment of about RMB 150 million and a gross floor area of 46,000 square meters, it is scheduled to be completed and operational by June this year. This project will synergize with the Fresh Cold Chain Production Base to build a comprehensive supply chain system for agricultural and fishery products.

"We will actively introduce advanced cold chain technology enterprises with high product added value and strong driving force," said Lin Wei, deputy general manager of Pingtan Real Development Group." By building a modern cold chain logistics park, we aim to integrate agricultural and fishery products resources from both sides of the Taiwan Straits, creating a full-chain service system integrating storage, transportation, processing, and distribution. This will not only enhance economic and trade exchanges between Pingtan and Taiwan but also accelerate the development of Pingtan's logistics hub."
