Pingtan Port handles first high-tonnage gantry crane component transfer
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2025-03-21 | Lin KongboRecently, a batch of offshore heavy-duty equipment arrived at Pingtan Port aboard the Guo Ao Yong Sheng vessel. The shipment, consisting of 1400-ton gantry crane support towers, will be assembled at Pingtan Port and then transported to Kaohsiung Port in Taiwan. Pingtan is the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan.
This marks Pingtan Port's first time handling the transfer and assembly of high-tonnage gantry crane components. The tower, measuring 110 meters in length, presented significant challenges due to its size, height, and complexity. However, with close coordination between the port authority and the cargo owner, a detailed rolling transfer plan was implemented.
The successful unloading of this offshore heavy equipment showcases Pingtan' s growing expertise in handling large-scale industrial equipment, reinforcing the port's position as a key player in cross-Straits economic cooperation.
