On the afternoon of March 20, the "Starry Seas, Romantic Dreams" Pingtan, China-Greece Culture & Tourism Promotion and Exchange Event was held on the Greek Island of Crete. The event was attended by Lai Jun, secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone and director of the Pingtan Area of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone, along with Giorgos Agrimanakis, deputy mayor of Heraklion, Greece. Representatives from the Heraklion municipal government, Greek cultural and tourism sectors, and local communities also participated.

In his speech, Lai highlighted Pingtan as a key gateway for China's global engagement, boasting unique advantages as a comprehensive pilot zone, a free trade pilot zone, and an international tourism island. He expressed optimism about the broad prospects for cooperation between the two regions in areas such as premium tourism development, cultural exchange, and cross-border trade. He also extended an invitation for Greek businesses to invest in Pingtan and encouraged the entry of Greek specialty products into the Chinese market through Pingtan, fostering industrial collaboration and integrated development.

Giorgos Agrimanakis praised Pingtan' s rich cultural and tourism resources, emphasizing the deep historical and cultural ties between the two maritime regions. He expressed enthusiasm for further collaboration in tourism, culture, and trade, contributing to high-quality development under the Belt and Road Initiative.

During the promotional segment, a representative from the Pingtan Tourism and Culture, Sports Bureau introduced the island's unique charm through the FRESH concept, highlighting five key aspects: Free, Romantic, Energetic, Socio-cultural, and Happy. This presentation showcased Pingtan's most distinctive attributes to the Greek audience.

Additionally, the Pingtan Cultural and Tourism Development Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Greece's Kaytrip, aiming to enhance resource sharing and mutual tourism growth. A dedicated exhibition area featured interactive cultural experiences such as hand-painted lacquer fans and custom postcards, drawing local visitors eager to explore the unique cultural appeal of Pingtan.

Looking ahead, Pingtan will leverage the opportunities presented by China's 240-hour visa-free transit policy to actively expand its international tourism market. Efforts will focus on promoting the "Pingtan International Tourism Island" brand globally and attracting more international visitors to experience the island's charm.
