Pingtan secures US$250 million investment for three major marine-driven tourism projects
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2025-04-21 | Lin Kongbo, StephanieFrom April 17 to 19, the 2025 Fujian Provincial Cultural and Tourism Economy Development Conference was held in Nanping, where 133 key cultural tourism projects across the province reached investment agreements. Among them, Pingtan Island stood out with three newly signed projects totaling an investment of approximately 1.8 billion yuan (around US$250 million), marking a substantial push forward in its "marine + tourism" development track.
The trio of signed projects includes the Pingtan Seaview Crown Holiday Hotel, the Austronesian-Maritime Silk Secret, and the Dongxiang Islet Mountain-Sea Resort.
The hotel, backed by an estimated 600 million yuan (around US$83 million), aims to become a new landmark in Aoqian Town of Pingtan. Plans include a high-standard, five-star resort hotel complemented by a family-friendly amusement park, an art-themed beach park, and a mountain park outfitted with a sky lounge, outdoor hot springs, swimming pool, and scenic viewing deck.
The Austronesian-Maritime Silk Secret Project is set to inject 500 million yuan (around US$69 million) into Pingtan's Taiwan-themed Town. It centers on immersive storytelling and digital installations rooted in Maritime Silk Road heritage and Austronesian culture. Plans include an 18,000-square-meter performance complex, ocean-view restaurants, themed boutique hotels, and a culturally inspired street district.
Meanwhile, the Dongxiang Islet Mountain-Sea Resort Project draws from a 700 million yuan (around US$97 million) investment and will transform the restructured Dongxiang fishery assets and surrounding natural resources into a premier island destination. The development will include secluded luxury hotels, clusters of local-style homestays, a private yacht marina, scenic beach fronts, and a bespoke island yachting club.
Together, these three initiatives signal a bold leap in reimagining Pingtan's coastal offerings, shaping the island into a high-end, culturally rich marine tourism hub.
