Pingtan, located off the coast of Fujian province and the closest point on the Chinese mainland to the island of Taiwan, is a comprehensive pilot zone for cross-Straits integration and international trade. It is also China's second international tourism island after Hainan. Now, the island's cultural footprint is expanding further as the Keqiutou Site Museum officially joins the National Museum Cultural and Creative Alliance.

The alliance, co-initiated by the Cultural Development Promotion Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, CCTV.com, the China Cultural Relics Exchange Center, and "Yangbo" Digital Art Museum of China Media Group, is a national platform dedicated to promoting the creative transformation of museum collections. It brings together museums and cultural enterprises across the country, aiming to unleash the potential of cultural and creative products while strengthening the development of museum-centered creative industries.

"The alliance offers a valuable opportunity for mutual learning and exchange," said Wu Lanping, assistant curator of the Keqiutou Site Museum. "We plan to fully utilize this platform to explore new ways to bring our artifacts to life and enhance our cultural communication and public service capabilities."

Opened in December 2024, the Keqiutou Site Museum spans 13,500 square meters and features three major exhibition halls that explore the origins and migration patterns of Austronesian-speaking peoples. The museum is located at the Keqiutou Archaeological Site Complex, which was selected as one of China's Top 10 Archaeological Discoveries of 2023 and designated as part of the eighth batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level.

With the museum's entry into the alliance, Pingtan further deepens its role as a guardian and innovator of maritime heritage, grounded in the island's deep cultural connections to Austronesian civilization.
