en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2025-06-04 | Lin Kongbo, StephaniePingtan, China's second international tourism island and a hub for cross-Straits exchanges, hosted an extraordinary space-themed educational event on June 1 at the Zhuyu Bay Film Studio. The gathering brought together China's first-generation astronaut Zhao Chuandong, Huang Chunping (chief commander of the Long March rockets for Shenzhou 1-5 missions), and Zhuang Zhaowen (former vice president of the National University of Defense Technology) to share their experiences with young space enthusiasts.
During the sharing session, Zhao Chuandong vividly recounted China's manned space program milestones. "I hope today's talk plants seeds of curiosity in these children," Zhao said. "May their passion for science grow into the determination to contribute to our nation's future." The event also featured hands-on activities, including spacecraft simulators and a mock space station tour.
Organizers revealed plans for the upcoming Straits Aerospace Future Pavilion, set to open within eight months. The permanent exhibition will host live astronaut dialogues and interactive space science programs.
Sanhang Digital Technology (Zhejiang) chairman Shi Weiming noted, "Through such events, we want youth from both sides of the Taiwan Straits to witness China's aerospace achievements together." The temporary exhibition already drew crowds to its rocket factory display during the Children's Day celebration.
