The 2025 Pingtan-Macao Sports Month kicked off with an electrifying baseball showdown at Pingtan Baseball Park on the evening of June 7, featuring a thrilling match between the Macao U15 and Pingtan U15 baseball teams. Located off the coast of Fujian province, Pingtan is China's second international tourism island after Hainan and has emerged as a growing hub for cross-Straits sports exchanges.

The Macao U15 team came out swinging, taking an early 6-2 lead in the first inning. However, the Pingtan squad quickly regrouped, capitalizing on defensive gaps to score eight runs in the second inning and seize control of the game. After multiple intense innings, the home team secured a hard-fought 10-8 victory.

We need more high-level competitions like this to build experience," said Pingtan U15 coach Xin Zhiyuan. "The Macao team demonstrated outstanding discipline in pitch selection – we hope for more exchange opportunities to mutually improve."

Macao U15 coach Tang Enhong commended the event organization: "This tournament provides crucial exposure for our team to identify gaps and expand our perspective. Pingtan's first-class facilities have deeply impressed us."

The baseball opener sets the stage for an action-packed sports month featuring football, tennis, basketball events, and the Macao Touring Car Championship's Pingtan stop.
